Independent Dental Broker

Looking for a dental broker to tell you exactly what is going on with a practice and any red flags? How about someone to walk you through the entire process of becoming a practice owner?

I’m here for all the buyers and startups out there, along with post sale coaching if needed. And hey, sometimes I lend a hand to sellers too depending on the location of the practice or an existing relationship.

I got you covered coast-to-coast, and I always conduct a site visit before you sign any binding agreement.

Remove the analysis paralysis and move forward with confidence!

If we end up working together on your specific situation… icing on the cake.

If not, you’ll at least be more educated to fight the good fight on your own.

Dental Broker Services

Buyer Rep

Buying a practice seems easy at first until you realize everyone is on the other side and things you don’t understand start moving quickly. The amount saved on your loan and purchase price alone is worth having a dental broker represent you as the buyer, but it’s really more about preserving your time and mental health during the entire transaction.

Post Sale Coach

Once the deal closes and the dust has settled, everyone you were working with is basically gone and you’re standing there with your new business. I have been there personally with my own practice, so designed a service to help get you through those first crazy 90 days. Anything past that is probably overkill unless you want expensive advice for a year.

Startup Consultant

If buying a practice is overwhelming, starting one from scratch is on another level. If you can get past that first year though, the reward of building something yourself is hard to describe to someone who has never done it. However, what some of these firms charge is highway robbery when you’ll be making zero dollars for awhile.

Practice Sales

Selling your practice is for sure one of the most complex and emotional transactions you will ever encounter in your professional life. While it is true that a dental broker may charge sellers a lot for their services, it is also fair to recognize that conducting such a major transaction without their expertise can greatly increase the likelihood the deal will fall apart.

Common Dental Broker Advice

Most of my clients sign up for both, but it ultimately depends on the transaction as each practice is unique. Consulting before the sale helps you get your practice for a fair deal, and consulting after the sale helps you get it jumpstarted toward your vision.  Buyer representation guides you through the purchase process, from identifying suitable practices to negotiating terms and conducting due diligence. Once the acquisition is complete, post sale consulting ensures the new practice operates efficiently by providing ongoing training, workflow optimization, and troubleshooting. Together, these services help you make informed decisions during the purchase and maximize your investment post sale, ensuring the practice thrives and aligns with your professional goals for long term success.

Starting a dental practice offers total control over location, branding, and team, but requires significant investment in time, resources, and patient acquisition. Buying an existing practice provides an established patient base, equipment, and cash flow, but may involve inheriting outdated systems or adapting to the existing staff and culture.

Try these two reputable websites to get started for on market listings in your area. I can analyze any practice in any state if you find one you want to know more about. Unfortunately there isn’t a listing site with all of them on there like in the real estate world. Even these two great links don’t have everything. A lot of deals are actually done through finding one through your own personal network believe it or not.

Typically I see dental brokers charge anywhere from 8-10% of the sale price, which is paid to them by the seller. They never share the commission with any other brokers or consultants, so if you want someone to represent you as the buyer then you’ll most likely need to pay someone yourself. This is a much different world than real estate, and even in that world buyer reps are having to start charging clients too. If someone can bring you value and make the transition easy, their worth is a whole lot more than their fee… financially and mentally. Not to mention it is a fraction of the cost sellers pay.

I mostly work with buyers but do represent sellers occasionally on a case-by-case basis. You can find my seller fees along with the buyers, startups, and coaching in my Broker Fees & FAQ page.
